Why are we different?

Our instructors take care of everyone as if they are a member of a big family. Before each ride begins, they make sure everyone feels comfortable, knowledgeable, and set for success.

LIfesCycle will:

Create an ultra-safe environment with properly trained staff.

Make the riding group friendly and unintimidating.

Provide the new participant with instruction and encouragement.

Ensure that the ‘fun factor’ is high

Offer amenities you might not find at your local gym, for example a DJ sound system and lighting.  It pumps out the music that motivates you to push yourself to new levels.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

More and more people are looking to pay for experiences, rather than just products. Edinburgh LifeCycle will focus on providing each customer with an experience that will make them want to come back for more. Indoor cycling has a reputation for intensity – and it can be intense.  But our classes will appeal to beginners, hard-core cyclists, and everyone in between. We train our instructors to coach riders to adapt their workout to their own experience and comfort level in a non-intimidating way.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

LifeCycle’s hallmark is that there are no excess activities and the focus is on cycling and activities that are complementary to indoor cycling, which makes it more of a specialty shop and less of an all-inclusive business. We want to keep that ‘home-spun’ feeling to it and for people to be comfortable in our studio. We want them to feel like they know us.

The Personal Touch

Please do not hesitate to get in touch to ask advice about Spinning, LifesCycle or which classes would suit you. Send us an email and we’ll answer all your questions or phone/ leave us a message and we’ll call you back.

Inclusion

We hope to be able to encourage community groups and people who may not normally have access to regular exercise for whatever reason to come in to the centre. We also have some additional bikes so could get out and about to  visit groups too. Again, if you have any ideas or contacts do pass them on.

Group Training

We have had various groups already using the centre on a regular basis, amongst them, Edinburgh Triathletes, www.edinburghtri.org

The Bicycle Works

www.thebicycleworks.co.uk/

and the guys from Edinburgh Speedway Cycling team, the Falcons. www.edinburghfalcons.co.uk

So thanks to all of you for your custom and we hope you will continue to do your training here.

FAQ

1. I’m new to indoor cycling. Do I have to be in great shape or be an experienced rider?

No. Indoor cycling can be adapted to any fitness level. Each rider controls the resistance on their bike and the speed of their own pedals. You choose how hard you want to work on any given ride. Our easy-to-use bikes provide you with all the feedback you need to ensure an optimal workout. Classes can be filled with riders of all levels, however we do offer more specialised rides for those who want them. There are no limits or prerequisites. The only question is how hard you want to work on any given day. Let our experienced teachers advise you which class you might particularly like, set you up properly and guide you through your journey.

2. Do you provide water at the studio?

We sell bottled water or you can fill your water bottle at the tap.

3. What do I need to bring with me?

You should bring a sweat towel, but if you forget, we do sell recyclable towels for  a nominal charge of 20p

4. How many calories will I burn up on the ride?

Depending on the class and the rider, the average indoor cyclist burns between 500-800 calories in just 60 minutes. In that same period of time, you’re likely to ride 15-20 miles. With a heart rate monitor, you can see exactly how many calories you’re burning in class.

5. I have bad knees and back problems, is indoor cycling safe for me?

Of course you should always consult your doctor before beginning a new exercise program, but with proper setup you should be just fine.

6. Is the seat comfortable?

Some beginners find that the seat, and bike in general, require a little getting used to. Padded bike shorts can definitely smoothe your own seat.

7. Do I need special shoes to ride?

No, but flat-soled shoes work best. After you’ve fallen in love with indoor cycling you may want to take it to the next level and purchase cycling shoes with SPD clips for the most efficient ride.

8. Do you have showers?

We have fairly small changing facilities as we wanted to optimize the space given over to the studio, but we do have private showers available. We don’t have lockers but we have found the centre to be very safe and you are welcome to take valuables into the studio.

9. Any other facilities?

We have loads of free on and off street parking!
