Indoor Cycling

Indoor Cycling is a group exercise class. Participants ride a stationary bike to the rhythm of music and coaching of a class leader.   Each 60 minute ride you’ll burn an average of 500-800 calories.  No matter what fitness level, anyone who can ride a bike can participate. The rider controls the resistance, speed, and overall exertion during the ride. Each rider can tailor the ride to his or her specific fitness level.LifesCycle- Recycle Your Life:

In recent years, indoor cycling, originally founded by cycle guru Johnny G, has gone from strength to strength. This is the innovative bicycling athletic training program that has revolutionised the fitness industry.

Jonathan Goldberg from Los Angeles, is an avid road cyclist who was determined to find a way to prepare for his intense Ride Across America with indoor training during the periods of cold or bad weather. Created 15 years ago, the brand Spinning has grown rapidly in popularity as it provides an excellent cardio workout for the overall conditioning of the body.

Description:

Spinning classes are done in a fitness studio, with various light and music settings to create an energized atmosphere. Instructors guide participants through workout phases – warm-up, steady uptempo cadences, sprints, climbs, cool-downs, etc. You control resistance on your bike to make the pedaling as easy or difficult as you choose. Constant adjustment is normal. All you will need is workout clothes, a towel (to wipe your face) and a water bottle. Spinning bikes have toe clips so you can wear tennis shoes but many pedals also work with Shimano-style SPD cleats.

What fitness level or condition should I be in to participate in a class?
Spinning is great for anyone aged 15 or older and allows you to work at your own intensity by controlling your own workout with the manual resistance knob.It is a great form of low impact cardiovascular activity, which does not place a high amount of stress on the joints, as higher impact activities would have that effect. (Jogging, step aerobics and the stairmaster)

How long will it take for me to see results?
In approximately 2-3 weeks you will notice an increase in your cardio endurance, energy level, increased strength in your lower body and notice changes in your body shape and/or weight. The amount of body weight or fat lost depends on the number of times that you exercise per week and the dietary choices you make. Generally, permanent weight loss will average 1-2 lbs per week.

How Often Should I Spin?
Have fun and participate in 2 or 3 classes per week. You are able to participate at your own pace and are always in charge of your ride and how hard you work. Spinning is a form of low impact cardiovascular exercise and minimizes the wear and tear on the joints; which enables you to participate frequently. The goal is to participate in different forms of cardiovascular activity to focus on working the larger muscles from different angles. This will also allow the muscles worked to recover from the workout and be prepared for the next ride. You will also maximize results by combining a minimum of 2 days per week to focus on resistance training.

Today hundreds of thousands of participants join in this pursuit of health and happiness. Indoor cycling training sessions combine a foundation of basic cycling movements with inspirational music, visualisation and breathing techniques to create a unique, non-impact, exercise experience. An Indoor Cycling class or ride takes place in a studio.

The music can be anything: trance, dance, pop, classical, mellow ….as long as it inspires and suits the mood and atmosphere of the class and the riders…..

The Spinning program is the original and most popular group cycling class. And it’s not just because Spinning is an unmatched way to make your fitness goals a reality. With no complicated moves to learn, top-notch instructors and music that begs your legs to pedal, getting into the best shape of your life has never been more fun.
